Feeling Much
My art attempts to make concrete the affections I have towards different disenfranchised individuals in the world today and from the past. My life has made me acutely aware of the socio-religious and economic disparities that exist in many places. I am grateful for the efforts that are put forth by many who help people but at the same time saddened by much that isn't done.
My work celebrates life, family, and culture in addition to being a commentary on the differences that exist relative to one young woman's life. The pieces I make utilize different non-traditonal techniques in addition to a brush. I have come to view the canvases of metal, wood, and linen as congruent to my skin. The burning, rust, embroidery, and paint are tatoos of my feelings and thoughts.
